Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have faced escalating strikes in recent weeks

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in extensive areas of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and dealt with interruptions to water systems, as stated by municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a minor was fatally injured in a separate aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, based on information from local officials.

Moscow has escalated assaults on electrical systems over recent weeks, while the country's government has demanded "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, the EU and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and enforcing sanctions," mentioned in a public message.

He said that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 projectiles targeted energy facilities, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles struck power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Multiple people injured in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, according to city authorities.
